Cheerleading Shoes FAQs

What type of music should I choose for a routine?

Cheer music is usually extremely upbeat and it relates to the type of routine that has been assembled.  Often times the music reflects the moves of the routine and many times it brings the cheerleaders moves to life.  It is common for music to have many short beats as cheerleaders move to pose for every beat.  In periods of long rifs of the music it is common for cheerleaders to show their tumbling talents.  Many cheerleading squads incorporate many different types of upbeat music from the most popular music of the era to less known music from past eras.  The more unique the music you choose for your performance is, the more unique your performance will appear.

What are common types of cheer clothes?

Jackets are the most common clothing article that many squads purchase for their members to support their sport.  Jackets often include logos, names and colors that reflect the squad, school or team that the cheerleader belongs to.  Shirts, sweaters and hoodies are also made with this same concept in mind.  Sweat pants are often made to include logos or squad and school names  butt or leg so that they are easily visible.  Hats and beanies are also made with team names.  Often times you can purchase these items in a bundle to save on cost. Many individuals choose to further personalize their clothing to include their own name.  This way everyone knows that this person is actually a part of the squad.

What items can be purchased to ensure the safety of cheerleaders as they perform?

There are many items a squad may purchase to keep its members safe from harm while they execute their routine.  The most basic safety choice is in the shoe.  Shoes can greatly assist a cheerleader with balance and stability as they perform.  The right shoe should have great grip on the ground as well as padding that will eliminate shock to the cheerleaders foot.  Shoes should also be comfortable and provide the cheerleader with maximum support.  You can also choose to purchase mats for your squad to perform on to ensure that they are safer in case of a fall or slip. Another option is to use braces before injury occurs so that cheerleaders limbs are not twisted incorrectly while performing maneuvers.
